Hammam (also known as the “Turkish Bath”) is the heart of the thermal area of Este Fitness & Spa – an exquisite prelude to all massages and beauty treatments. The room is in the authentic circular shape from the Orient, with four individual heated marble tables, which distinguishes it from all the others in Bulgaria. 

Hammam is a wet room filled with steam, which is also called the Middle Eastern version of the steam bath, inherited and further developed by the Roman-Byzantine tradition in ritual bathing. Steamed air in the hammam relaxes the body. The pores open, natural toxins start to emerge naturally and after about 10 minutes the skin is prepared for a subsequent cleaning procedure or massage.

Typically, so-called Oriental peeling (with a special glove called ‘kesse’) or natural exfoliating products (coffee, tea, rice, herbs, coconut) are used to remove the dead-cell surface layer. It is advisable to make a massage according to individual needs after a hamnam.

Oriental peeling “Kesse” is a traditional eastern whole body cleaning procedure using a special exfoliating glove made of silk, loofah, viscose or date palm fibers. The rubbing removes dead cells, stimulates the “breathing” of the skin and improves blood circulation. It is done on a pre-warmed body, and the result is pure, silky soft and elastic skin. Traditionally, the procedure ends with washing the hair and the body.
